Fike designs simple and reliable solutions against explosions to meet all safety requirements. On average, half of grain explosions are initiated in bucket elevators. Fike designed Eleguard specifically for this type – an explosion plate that can be very easily mounted on the elevator legs. For indoor applications where discharge of the explosion to the atmosphere is undesirable or even impossible.

Fike offers flame arresters that work with the Eleguard. Fike’s Ele-Quench flame arrester prevents the escape of flame and byproducts typical during an explosion. The two devices, the Ele-Quench flame arrester and filter, and the Eleguard safety plate, can be mounted and tightened directly on the elevator.

A wide range of tests have shown that, using Fike’s Ele-Quench, full throughput performance remains intact. Full-scale blast tests have shown that the design pressure, using the Ele-Quench filter, remains the same. Therefore, there is no need to increase the size of the safety plate to maintain the assumed design pressure. All values remain as initially calculated for the safety plate.
